Graduating members of Delta Zeta

Fraternity and Sorority Life at Grand Valley State University (GVSU) is a vibrant and evolving community rooted in connection, purpose, and belonging. Greek-letter organizations have been part of the GVSU experience since 1971, when the first chapters were established to foster leadership, service, scholarship, and brotherhood and sisterhood among students.

Among our longest-standing organizations are Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., both active at Grand Valley since 1974. These groups continue to set the tone for our values-based community, which today includes more than 25 recognized fraternities and sororities across four governing councils: the Interfraternity Council (IFC), Multicultural Greek Council (MGC), National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC), and Panhellenic Association (CPA).

While each chapter has its history and national legacy, all are united by a shared commitment to academic achievement, ethical leadership, community engagement, and lifelong connection. Our members come from diverse backgrounds and fields of study, contributing to a community where students are encouraged to show up authentically, lead boldly, and support one another in meaningful ways.

Fraternity and Sorority Life is housed within the Office of Student Life and exists to provide support, guidance, and leadership development opportunities to students who choose to participate in this experience. We strive to foster a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment where students can grow personally and collectively as part of something greater than themselves.
