Laker students, alumni, faculty & staff share their Global GVSU Story.
I moved to the US in August 2011 from Sri Lanka and it was my first time out of the country. GVSU faculty, international office staff (especially, Kate Stoetzner) and all my friends at GV made me feel like home from day one. I completed both my Bachelors and Masters at GVSU. I'm very grateful to the faculty at school of Accounting for the career mentoring they provided. Everyone I met at GV was so helpful and being an international student there was the best part of my life. I didn't really realize how exceptional GV is until I studied at two different universities afterwards. I made great friends who I still talk to, even though most of them are thousand miles away. I got my first internship and my first job through GVSU career services and they have been tremendously helpful (shout out to Lori Staggs). I believe the opportunities I was given and friendships I made at GV made a major impact in my life and made who I am today. Therefore, GVSU will always will be my second home!
