Laker students, alumni, faculty & staff share their Global GVSU Story.
During 2006/07, I studied at Kingston University London for my Behavioral Science degree and met the language requirement in Japanese. During my time in London, I was able to travel around Europe, work part time at an IT company and received an award for best essays on British life and culture. Taking part in this study abroad program prepared me for receiving a Master's degree and working in the UK for four years. Since then, I have worked and travelled extensively in China, Japan and Australia. This included holding a research position at East China Normal University, which has an excellent exchange program with GVSU.
Your global adventure doesn't have to end with your study abroad program. I encourage current students to reach out to faculty at GVSU and their connections overseas before relocating abroad. You can expand on your experience by working, volunteering or taking up extracurricular activities to make local friends. I'm very thankful to GVSU for launching my career and the international friendships I have made.
