Laker students, alumni, faculty & staff share their Global GVSU Story.
I began this amazing adventure I'm still experiencing back in 2006, when I attended the University of Tasmania as a GVSU study abroad student. While there I met my future wife, who is Danish, and my best friend, who is Swedish and now the godfather of our son. After Australia, I traveled to Denmark to continue studying as a study abroad student before returning to the GVSU campus with my wife to graduate in 2008. From there I was awarded a scholarship from the University of Copenhagen in Denmark, where I obtained my Master's in English. I have been living in Copenhagen ever since, carving out a successful professional career as a Communications Director. We have two beautiful children, a boy and a girl. I've also written four books; the first one being started while I was abroad in Tasmania, and I'm still in regular contact with about ten people I first met in Australia, some I even get to hang out with every once in a while, like my best friend from Sweden, who just came for a visit to help celebrate his godson's 5th birthday ... and it's all due to GVSU and their wonderful study abroad program!
