Laker students, alumni, faculty & staff share their Global GVSU Story.
When I was at GVSU, I was a low-income and first-generation student, so studying abroad always seemed out of reach for me. Connecting with the Padnos International Center and the Office of Fellowships opened my eyes to the numerous ways in which I could support my study abroad goals. I am grateful to share that my study abroad experience in France and Morocco helped cultivate a deeper global competency, encouraged me to take risks, and solidified my desire to engage deeply in Francophone Studies in the Maghreb (North Africa). Now I am in my first year as a graduate student in the French and Francophone Studies department at the University of California Los Angeles. I will always consider my study abroad experience at GVSU as an essential part of my journey. Cheers to 50 years!
