Laker students, alumni, faculty & staff share their Global GVSU Story.
Two things landed me at Grand Valley and these are: Special Education and President Gerald Ford. Upon discovering that president Ford signed the Education for All Handicapped Children Act (Public Law 94-142), then I decided that I must go to school at the city of birth of the former president since to me, he opened the door of education to individuals with disabilities. I arrived the U.S. from Nigeria in 2013 for my master's in Special Education and completed my program in December 2014. Upon finishing my degree, I worked briefly in Wisconsin as a Disability Specialist. Currently, I work at Metropolitan State University of Denver as Accessibility Coordinator as well as an affiliate faculty in the department of Special Education.
