Values & Vision Statements

Our division has identified seven values that guide our collective work, along with a brief vision statement for how we intend to live out each value.

While these values are specific to our division's priorities, they also align with - and build upon - the shared values that guide the university's Reach Higher strategic plan.

The values and their vision statements are listed below:

  • Innovation -- Charter Public Schools and Thompson and Charter Scholar programs establish deep partnerships and unique learning models that foster innovative approaches to education that result in excellent, equitable educational outcomes.

  • Lifelong Achievement -- All University learners engage in a supported educational experience that fosters social and academic success and develops leaders ready to create a more robust and resilient society.

  • Inclusivity & Belonging -- K-12 and University learners' lived experiences are foundational to designing educational supports that ensure equitable access to, and success in, all learning opportunities.

  • Partnership -- Mutually beneficial partnerships among the University, schools, and communities drive systemic improvement and address complex educational challenges. Engagement with university and charter alumni are leveraged to achieve goals.

  • Accountability -- We hold ourselves and partners to high standards for the educational success of all learners.

  • Inquiry -- Data is used ethically and strategically to guide decisions, uncover barriers, ensure accountability, and support continuous improvement. Inquiry fuels our commitment to evidence-based practice.

  • Communication -- Clear, strategic communication and outreach build trust, foster relationships, and demonstrate impact. Transparency and responsiveness are at the heart of our engagement efforts.
