Balancing rigorous academics with the demands of collegiate athletics is no small feat- but for Connor Wolfe, that balance has become a source of growth, leadership, and service to others. As a Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) leader for CIS 163 and a member of the rowing team, Connor brings discipline, adaptability, and empathy into every space he occupies.

Connor’s inspiration to become a PAL stems from his appreciation for effective communication and inclusive teaching. He shared that the courses he enjoys most are led by instructors who support multiple learning styles, build trust with students, and continue learning alongside them. Serving as a PAL allows him to extend that same environment to fellow students offering additional explanations. That support, he noted, gives students the confidence to explore material more deeply and identify their academic interests.

What Connor values most about the PAL role is its reciprocal nature. Working with students continually challenges him to refine both his understanding of the material and the way he explains it. Each interaction pushes him to think differently about how concepts are communicated, strengthening his technical knowledge and his ability to clearly convey complex ideas.

Connor’s experience on the rowing team has also shaped his approach to teamwork and leadership. The sport has sharpened his goal setting mindset, reinforced the importance of preparation and consistency, and demonstrated what effective leadership looks like in practice- putting the team first and trusting in collective effort. He describes rowing as one of the most impactful experiences of his college career.

For students balancing academics, leadership roles, and extracurricular commitments, Connor emphasizes the importance of having something to look forward to- whether that’s time with friends, personal routines, or moments set aside for rest. Creating space for balance, he says, is essential for maintaining wellbeing and supporting others effectively.

Looking ahead, Connor plans to continue developing technical depth and applying his skills in data-focused software roles, while remaining active in athletics with an emphasis on long term sustainability and health.

Through peer mentorship, teamwork, and thoughtful approach balance, Connor Wolfe reflects the leadership, collaboration, and growth that define the College of Computing community.
