Tips for Employer Success at GVSU Career Fairs

The GVSU Career & Internship Fair is held each fall and winter—here are some tips to help you make the most of it!

Before the Fair - Check Your Registration on Handshake

Did you know that you can update parts of your Career Fair registration even after submitting it? You can edit representative names, your organization description, and the job roles you are hiring for. The more detailed and accurate your registration, the better prepared candidates will be to engage with your team. To learn how to update your fair registration, please visit Handshake.

Day of the Fair - Arrive Early

Plan to arrive on site at least one hour before the fair begins (employer registration starts at 11 am). This allows time for parking, unloading materials, checking in, and setting up your booth.  And don’t forget our  incredible  employer lunch that is served from 11 am to 1 pm.  It’s a great way to recharge before a busy afternoon of meeting candidates.

During the Fair - Be Open and Engaging

Encourage your team to speak with all students, regardless of major. While you may be targeting specific fields, our students are eager to explore diverse opportunities—and your next great hire might come from an unexpected background.

After the Fair - Share Your Feedback

Look for a post-event Employer Evaluation in your inbox the next day. Your feedback helps us continually improve the fair experience for both employers and students.
