Career fairs can be daunting and nerve-wracking for students. Help them prepare by allowing them to practice their elevator pitch/virtual introductions in advance of the Virtual Fall Career & Internship Fair. Participating employers will have a chance to give a short welcome and information about their organization followed by a speed pitch session facilitated in Zoom rooms. Don't miss this great opportunity to contribute to the professional development of our students while identifying good potential candidates for your organization!

Friday, October 1
12 - 3 pm

Resume Review Day provides you the opportunity to virtually interact with individual students who are seeking professional feedback on their resume, while sourcing potential candidates for your organization. You will review a student's resume, have a chance to share your contact information, and if appropriate, invite the student to learn more about your organization at the Virtual Career, Internship & Summer Fair - all in 10-minute sessions.

The Review Process

  1. Employers register in Handshake and create schedules ( get help creating schedules).
  2. Students register in Handshake in advance or day-of to have their resume reviewed by one or several employers.
  3. On the day of the event, students and employers sign in to Handshake to launch their meetings.
  4. Employers review students’ resumes and provide feedback in 10-minute sessions.
  5. Employers may request, if appropriate, that students follow up with them at the Fall Virtual Career & Internship Fair with a revised version of their resume.
  6. Employers and students exchange contact information, if appropriate, for continued networking.

Tabling On Campus

Tabling in a high traffic location at either Allendale or the Pew campus (downtown Grand Rapids) is another great way to raise brand awareness and reach students. Tabling reservations should be made at least two business days before you plan to come to campus and no earlier than 30 days in advance.

Host & Promote Your Own Events

At GVSU, we are always willing to work with our employer partners to think outside of the box. Because of our distributed campuses and increasing demands on learner time, we have found that traditional information sessions do not always attract attention. However, we are happy to work with you to develop and promote your own event. Here are a few examples...

  • Case study competitions
  • Pumpkin carving by the Carillon
  • Tech Talks with product demonstrations
  • Cookies & exam cram session
