Grand Valley's Nonprofit Administration minor equips students with the knowledge and skills necessary to understand and participate in the nonprofit sector. The program focuses on preparing students for roles in various nonprofit organizations, including neighborhood associations, youth groups, religious organizations, and community clinics, all of which carry out important public service missions.
The curriculum covers a broad range of topics essential for nonprofit management, such as program planning, grant writing, fundraising, public relations, and marketing. Students gain practical experience through internships, which are integral to the program, ensuring they can apply their classroom knowledge in real-world settings.
The program has exceptional resources like the Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership, which offers financial, technical, and administrative support. The Community Research Institute provides quality research and critical data for community improvement. Additionally, the GVSU library's endowed Johnson Collection for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership is one of the country's best collections on the nonprofit sector, ensuring comprehensive education and preparation for impactful roles.
