Movement science studies how the body controls and produces movement.

Overview

This minor provides foundational knowledge in the cultural, historical, and philosophical dimensions of physical activity, its role in health and wellness, scientific foundations, and practice. This minor is open to all except exercise science, sport management, or health and physical education majors.

Core courses cover the science of human movement and exercise, personal health and wellness, fundamental concepts in human movement science, and the social and cultural dimensions of sport. You will also take introductory fitness and elective courses, providing an interdisciplinary foundation.

The program highlights the comprehensive benefits of physical activity on physical, mental, emotional, and social health. You will engage in courses that address diversity across race, gender, age, and ability, use state-of-the-art equipment, and personalize your studies to your interests and goals.
