Michigan Project WET
What: Project WET (Water Education Today) is an international, interdisciplinary, water science and education program for formal and non-formal educators of K-12 students that is dedicated to solving critical environmental challenges by teaching the world about water. We do this by providing hands-on, science-based water education resources to formal and non-formal educators around the world. These resources encourage responsible environmental stewardship and promote meaningful action to address environmental challenges, climate change, social justice, and sustainability.
Who: Michigan Project WET has a network of facilitators across the state who offer professional development for educators, both formal and non-formal. Professional development is offered both virtually and in-person. The length of professional development depends on educator needs and the featured curriculum unit.
How: Project WET has several curriculum offerings for educators. The conceptual framework of the Water Literacy Principles is the foundational element of the curricula. Project WET curriculum activities are accurate and science-based, incorporate inquiry-based strategies, adaptable, relevant, and solutions-oriented.
Why: Project WET has global reach with local impact. Project WET is invested in the future of local communities and the planet to inspire the next generation of water stewards.

Immerse yourself in the interconnected systems that drive Earth's water cycle with the Water in Earth Systems guide. With this guide, you will be able to help your students explore topics such as the water cycle, weather and climate interactions, groundwater movement, and the impact of human activities on water resources. This guide is the newest in Project WET's dynamic line-up of water curricula and contains 23 lessons.
The Foundations of Water Education Guide contains 12 activities designed to empower educators to seamlessly integrate essential water literacy concepts into their curriculum.
From understanding the water cycle to delving into watershed dynamics, each activity is designed to foster a deeper appreciation for our planet's most precious resource for K-12 students.
Project WET's hands-on, science-based Climate, Water & Resilience curriculum helps educators feel confident addressing climate change in the classroom and beyond. Aligned with Common Core and NGSS standards, this program guides teachers and students through nine engaging activities that empower them to combat climate change and build a more resilient future.
Which Project WET Guide do you want to be trained in first? Project WET Activities are aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards and Common Core standards and Michigan Project WET Facilitators are available to lead you through a custom workshop experience!
