The Robert B. Annis Water Resources Institute (GVSU Lake Michigan Center) is located on the shoreline of Muskegon Lake in downtown Muskegon. It is adjacent to Heritage Landing.

From the south:
From U.S. 31 heading north, take the U.S. 31 Business Route exit just north of the I-96 junction. U.S. 31 Business Route (Seaway Drive) should be followed until Shoreline Drive splits off to the left just after Southern. Proceed north on Shoreline Drive to the second stoplight (Seventh Street). Turn left on Seventh Street. AWRI is on the right after the railroad tracks. Buses park in designated spaces on the west side of the parking lot.

From the southeast:
Travel to the end of I-96 past the US-31 junction (DO NOT take the US-31 exit). I-96 will become U.S. Business Route 31 (Seaway Drive). U.S. 31 Business Route (Seaway Drive) should be followed until Shoreline Drive splits off to the left just after Southern. Proceed north on Shoreline Drive to the second stoplight (Seventh Street). Turn left on Seventh Street. AWRI is on the right after the railroad tracks. Buses park in designated spaces on the west side of the parking lot.

From the north:
From U.S. 31 heading south, take the U.S. 31 Business Route exit towards downtown Muskegon. Continue on U.S. 31 Business Route past the North Muskegon exit. Merge into the two right lanes heading towards Shoreline Drive downtown. Proceed on Shoreline Drive to the 4th stoplight (Seventh Street). Turn right on Seventh Street. AWRI is on the right after the railroad tracks. Buses park in designated spaces on the west side of the parking lot.

From the east:
From M46 heading west, turn left onto U.S. 31 Business Route (Webster Avenue). Continue on U.S. 31 Business Route (Webster Avenue) to Seventh Street and turn right. Continue on Seventh through the stoplight (Shoreline Drive). AWRI is on the right after the railroad tracks. Buses park in designated spaces on the west side of the parking lot.

The W.G. Jackson docks and receives passengers at the Lake Michigan Center in Muskegon, MI. Follow the direction posted above for the Lake Michigan Center. Buses park in designated spaces on the west side of the parking lot.

The D.J. Angus docks and receives passengers outside of AWRI's main campus and is located on Coho Drive on the north end of Harbor Island in Grand Haven, Michigan.

From the north along US-31: Use Route A (fastest) or Route B. 

• Route A: Take the first right onto Coho Drive immediately after crossing the drawbridge over the Grand River. Proceed over the railroad track and take the next right toward the Harbor Island public boat launch. The Angus dock is adjacent to the public bathroom just past the paved parking area less than half a mile after the turn. 
• Route B: Turn right at the first set of traffic lights onto Jackson Street after crossing the drawbridge over the Grand River. Proceed along Jackson Street. Take the first right after crossing the railroad tracks onto Third Avenue. Cross the boat channel, veer to the right at the T-junction, and then take the next left onto Coho Drive towards the Harbor Island public boat launch. The Angus dock is adjacent to the public bathroom just past the paved parking area less than half a mile after the turn. 

From the south along US-31: Use Route C (fastest) or Route D. 

• Route C: Be in the right lane of US 31 before approaching Jackson Street (the last set of traffic lights before crossing the drawbridge over the Grand River). Take the first right past the “Drawbridge Ahead” sign onto Harbor Island Drive. The turn is somewhat hidden and not clearly labeled; Halls Sport Center will be on your right, and there is a small blue rectangular sign that says “Ferrysburg – Spring Lake”. Follow Harbor Island Drive as it passes under the drawbridge and then back toward the south. Turn right at the stop sign onto Coho Drive. Proceed over the railroad track and take the next right toward the Harbor Island public boat launch. The Angus dock is adjacent to the public bathroom just past the paved parking area less than half a mile after the turn. 
• Route D: Turn left at Jackson Street, the last set of traffic lights before crossing the drawbridge over the Grand River. Proceed along Jackson Street. Take the first right after crossing the railroad track onto Third Avenue. Cross the boat channel, veer to the right at the T-junction, and then take the next left onto Coho Drive towards the Harbor Island public boat launch. The Angus dock is adjacent to the public bathroom just past the paved parking area less than half a mile after the turn.
