Student Employment works with all University departments and the community to create part-time and summer employment opportunities for students. As part of the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships, we administer the Federal Work Study Program university-wide. The purpose of Student Employment is to aid students in obtaining employment that will help finance their education and develop work skills for their future career choice.
Student Employment is a resource for job-seeking students and hosts an online jobs database called LakerJobs.
The best way for prospective employers to reach Grand Valley students is through LakerJobs where you can post and manage your job posting, customize a job application, and track student applicants.
We look forward to working with you!
Transition to Handshake
We are currently transitioning from our current system, LakerJobs, to a new system called Handshake. LakerJobs will be active until June 18, 2018. Beginning June 19, 2018, Grand Valley will be using Handshake for both employers and students. You can read more about the transition here.
- There are over 4,000 student employees working on Grand Valley's campus.
- Studies conducted by the National Association of Student Employment Administrators show that "students who work, do as well or better academically as students who do not work."
- LakerJobs is updated daily with new job postings.
- Student Employment puts on annual events such as the Summer Job Fair and Student Employee Appreciation Days.
