What is your favorite Seidman memory?
There are so many memories I would like to share about my time at Grand Valley and Seidman. I have had a lot of great classes and met a lot of great students, but I would say my fondest memories came from just sitting in the common area of the first floor of Seidman and talking to my friends and peers.

Our building namesake – Bill Seidman – exhibited many desirable traits of a leader such as innovator, integrity, curiosity and future-minded. How did your experience at Seidman help you develop one or more of these traits?
Being a student at Seidman helped me develop and fine-tune my curiosity. Being curious is not just asking many questions but asking the right questions. I have learned at Seidman to look past the fictional situations in the textbooks and ask about situations that occur in the real world. And because the faculty at Seidman has such a wealth of knowledge already, it really has given me great insight.

What would you like people in the community to know about Seidman graduates like you?
I know many people who just went to college to get their degree and then never think about it again. There is nothing wrong with that, but I am genuinely proud of being a Seidman graduate! I love telling people that I went to GVSU.

What is your career aspiration?
I am still pretty early into my career at Dow Inc., so I would like to continue to develop a diverse skill set there for now. But eventually, I would love to find myself doing some data analytics work within Dow and be among the real decision-makers. I want to help shape what the future looks like!

How did your time at Seidman College prepare you to contribute to your community as a Laker for a Lifetime?
Seidman prepared me to contribute to my community by not being afraid to look (or ask) for opportunities that fit my interests. Seidman provided me with events and opportunities while I was there, but because there were so many, I was able to find the niches I liked. Now I have an understanding of my interests and skills I can bring, so that I can find opportunities in any community I go to and can shine.
