Excellence in a Discipline - Accounting
What is your favorite Seidman memory?
My favorite Seidman memory has to be the business simulation from
my capstone course. Being able to work together with my peers and have
full autonomy over the decision making of a simulated business was
incredibly fun! I really enjoyed being able to dive into the data and
nerd out with the forecasting. Professor Baid was also a great mentor
who challenged me every week!
Our building namesake – Bill Seidman – exhibited many
desirable traits of a leader such as an innovator, integrity,
curiosity, and future-minded. How did your experience at Seidman
help you develop one or more of these traits?
Seidman cultivated my curiosity more than I could have imagined.
I was able to explore more deeply into subjects I had never considered
looking into and have conversations with professionals who taught me
so much. This has continued on after graduation where I utilize my
curiosity in the field of accounting where there is always something
new to learn.
What would you like people in the community to know about
Seidman graduates like you?
The community should know about the work ethic of Seidman
graduates. Throughout my years at Grand Valley I was able to see time
and time again the willingness that my fellow students displayed to go
the extra mile and put in more effort, even when it wasn't necessary.
What is your career aspiration?
My current career aspiration is to become a CPA. This is a huge
milestone for my career and I am hoping to achieve it within the next
two years. The certification is a stepping stone in my long term goal
of reaching the management level within my firm where I can make more
of an impact, both within my firm and with our clients who make up our
West Michigan community.
How did your time at Seidman College prepare you to contribute
to your community as a Laker for a Lifetime?
The years I spent in Seidman transformed me in many ways and made
me a better man and member of my community. I have gained a ton of
confidence, problem solving skills, and technical knowledge that I can
bring forward with me into my career and use to help the individuals
and businesses of West Michigan succeed. I'm proud to be a Laker and
will continue to put my best foot forward in all my future endeavors!
