Excellence in a Discipline - Supply Chain Management
What is your favorite Seidman memory?
My favorite Seidman memory was leading a team to win one of the
largest and most prestigious supply chain case competitions in North
America. I have also loved how supportive, dedicated, and approachable
the professors are, especially Jaideep Motwani and Susan Ostrum.
Our building namesake – Bill Seidman – exhibited many
desirable traits of a leader such as an innovator, integrity,
curiosity, and future-minded. How did your experience at Seidman
help you develop one or more of these traits?
My classes and extracurriculars have frequently encouraged
thinking holistically about business processes and the effects certain
actions can have on different areas of the supply chain and business
as a whole. This curiosity is built into the structure of many classes
themselves. Many class projects and independent studies are fairly
open-ended, allowing me to focus on a company, process, or question
that interests me, offering a somewhat tailored experience to my own curiosity.
What would you like people in the community to know about
Seidman graduates like you?
Seidman graduates are taught more than mere industry concepts.
Classes at Seidman provide a heavy focus on real-world application of
topics which requires understanding how things work together,
something that is more relevant (and often more difficult) than
memorizing a concept.
What is your career aspiration?
Upon graduation, I will be starting my career at Bissell in their
supply chain leadership development program. As I progress into my
career, I hope to continue to grow in my supply chain knowledge
and
leadership skills while keeping my faith at the center of
everything I do.
How did your time at Seidman College prepare you to contribute
to your community as a Laker for a Lifetime?
The relationships I have built throughout my time at Seidman have
directly impacted my academic and professional success. The importance
of community engagement that I have learned will continue to be a
point of emphasis as I progress through my career.
