What is your favorite Seidman memory?
My favorite Seidman memory is attending my professor’s office
hours. I believe this is an opportunity most students take for granted
and do not utilize. We have a wide variety of professors that are
knowledgeable in research, industry experience, and the professional
environment. They have such a unique perspective and are willing to
help students find their path. I have reached out to several
professors for advice on career opportunities and postgraduate
education programs, and each conversation has been incredibly valuable.
Our building namesake – Bill Seidman – exhibited many
desirable traits of a leader such as an innovator, integrity,
curiosity, and future-minded. How did your experience at Seidman
help you develop one or more of these traits?
The skill that I’ve developed most at Seidman is curiosity. I’ve
always believed in the importance of asking questions to truly
understand the material, and this environment has fostered that
mindset. I love the learning environment because it is a crafted
environment that encourages growth and constant learning. This is the
type of environment I hope to create as a leader: one where curiosity
is encouraged and people are comfortable to ask questions that lead to
new ideas, innovations, and solutions.
What would you like people in the community to know about
Seidman graduates like you?
Seidman graduates come from a range of different backgrounds.
This diversity is one of our greatest strengths. By learning from one
another’s unique experiences and perspectives, we are able to approach
problems in new and creative ways. This has encouraged me to think of
solutions from different perspectives and become more innovative.
What is your career aspiration?
After graduation, I will be working at Steelcase full-time as a
Pricing Specialist. In the future, I would love to further my
education. I am currently looking into a few Masters programs in
Business Analytics. I have always loved being a student and look
forward to getting back into the classroom.
How did your time at Seidman College prepare you to contribute
to your community as a Laker for a Lifetime?
While at Seidman College, I have received a well-rounded
education that spans multiple different disciplines. Having a
comprehensive understanding of these fields allows me to understand
the challenges faced in different areas of business. This
understanding will help me become a more effective, informed, and
valuable leader. Outside of academics, Seidman has supplied me with
multiple opportunities for professional development, leadership
growth, and public speaking. While at Seidman, I challenged myself to
seize every opportunity and continue striving for improvement, and I’m
proud to carry that mindset forward as a Laker for a Lifetime.
