We're Hiring - Director of External and Alumni Relations

SUMMARY

The Seidman College of Business is searching for a Director of External and Alumni Relations.  This position focuses on the cultivation and maintenance of strong, engaged, and enduring relationships with external stakeholders.  Seidman’s external stakeholders encompass several segments, including community leaders, business leaders and their organizations, and a growing number of alumni.  Building and sustaining mutually beneficial partnerships creates a continuity of learning as students move from theory to practice to career.

An integral component to the success of the Seidman College of Business is its strong connection to community.  The intentional efforts to build and sustain strong relationships with external stakeholders has contributed to positive outcomes for our students, college, and university.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL DEMONSTRATE

  • Support the Seidman College of Business Dean in collaborating with University Development and Alumni Relations to engage, build, and sustain strong relationships with alumni and external partners
  • Create engaging content to promote the Seidman College of Business and its academic programs, events, and activities to internal and external constituents via marketing materials, social/other media channels, written and electronic communications, presentations, etc.
  • Manage the efforts of the Dean’s Advisory Board, including strategic direction and engagement of the board, coordination of board meetings, development of regular updates and communication, etc.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional divisions of an organization where appropriate, such as development/fund raising, marketing, communications, etc., to drive university and college-wide initiatives
  • Strong organizational skills such as managing a variety of projects and initiatives simultaneously, while attending to accuracy and outcomes
  • Effective management and oversight of special projects, internal and external events
  • Strong interpersonal skills such as the ability to interact with a diverse population of stakeholders with respect, empathy, and cultural humility
  • Commitment to incorporating principles of diversity, equity, inclusion and access in all communication and marketing materials

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5-7 years working in a relationship-oriented position
  • Strong communication (oral and written) and organization skills
  • Ability to work both autonomously and as a key member of the Dean’s Leadership Team
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service
  • Performs other duties as required/assigned by supervisor

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations
  • Earned master’s degree in a related field
  • Experience working in a higher education setting, with a focus on external, alumni or donor relations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft computer applications

WORKING CONDITIONS

Normal office environment.  Some travel may be required.

SALARY: Commensurate with experience
