Damge to Personal Property

Theft and Crimes: If the property was stolen, or otherwise involved in a crime, contact Law Enforcement appropriate to the jurisdiction where the crime occurred, or GVSU Public Safety

Grand Valley State University's insurance programs do not provide coverage for personal property from damage, loss, or theft of personal property, whether such loss occurs on-campus or off, even if that property is owned by a student, employee, visitor, or volunteer. 

Alternative recovery options that an individual might consider, include but aren't limited to:

  • Personal insurance policy (ex: homeowners or renters' insurance)
  • Credit card claim  used to purchase the item
  • Submitting a warranty claim for the item or device, if applicable
