We have some of the most popular classes at the university! Because of student demand, we continue to create more opportunities to move.
The Fitness, Skill and Activity (FIT) Program offers classes to every Grand Valley State University student. The majority of classes are offered as one credit. A FIT Class is an opportunity to be physically active, get a workout, learn new skills, refine existing skills. Want to try something new? This are great classes to start; no experience is necessary in most of of our classes (FIT 123 is the one exception).
If you are concerned about registering for a FIT course because of your abilities or disabilities or an injury, our faculty will do everything possible to accommodate your individual situation. Contact the FIT Program Coordinator, Karol Tiemersma, for more information: [email protected] or 331-8890.
Students take a wide range of FIT courses, including Archery, Rock Climbing, Bowling, Weight Training, Tennis, Soccer, Golf, Gymnastics, Pilates, Self-Defense, Volleyball and Yoga, to name a few. The goal of this program is to help students develop or refine physical literacy: having the skills, knowledge, confidence and desire to be active for a lifetime.
