MA English Student Awarded Prize at WIU Research Conference

Master of Arts in English student Ashley Quinn recently presented her graduate paper "Mothers, Daughters, Vampires: The Female Sexual Dilemma in Eighteenth-Century Vampire Poetry" at the Western Illinois University Research Conference on October 19, 2019. As part of the conference, she was awarded second place for her graduate paper. Congratulations, Ashley!

"My experience at this conference was amazing. It was very small (65 presenters) and most of the presenters were actually undergraduates from the WIU English program. I found that the atmosphere created by such a small conference made my anxiety about presenting decrease considerably. I had submitted my paper a week before the conference to be considered for the award and was told that it was too long! Thankfully, WIU gave me another day to take my 28-page paper and turn it into an 8-page paper. While it was one of the hardest tasks I have done in graduate school, it was certainly worth it! I will be presenting this paper again in March at the Northeast MLA conference in Boston, MA." - Ashley Quinn
