Biography

Dr. Ali Raza’s research bridges Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Learning Analytics, Visualization, Artificial Intelligence in Education, STEM Education, and the Learning Sciences. He co-designs, develops, and studies educational technologies and learning environments across both formal and informal learning settings in Research Practice Partnerships. His work adopts a Design-Based Research approach, with a focus on creating meaningful and inclusive learning experiences for all learners. Dr. Raza leads the EdTech Partnerships Lab, where he mentors both undergraduate and graduate students on research projects in transdisciplinary scholarship in these areas. He is an active reviewer for several prominent journals and conferences, including the Journal of Learning Analytics, ACM Transactions on Computing Education, International Society of Learning Sciences, and the Computer-Human Interaction (CHI) community. He is also a member of ACM, AERA, and ISLS, and serves on the Human-Centered Computing Graduate Committee. The Spencer Foundation, Gates Foundation, and William T. Grant Foundation have previously funded his scholarly work.

Dr. Raza regularly teaches courses in Usability Design and Evaluation and Software Engineering. Outside of academia, he enjoys hiking outdoors with his two daughters.
