Ms. Jenny, Preschool 3: Assistant Program Administrator & Lead P3 Teacher

Welcome to the Preschool 3 classroom that serves our oldest Lakers 4 to 5 year olds.  One of the main goals in this classroom is to make sure all the children are prepared for kindergarten or wherever they may be going next.  We work on academic as well as the social skills that they will need to know. All of the skills we work on will help the children become more independent learners.   The curriculum that we use is based on Creative Curriculum.  Creative Curriculum is a child based curriculum and focuses on what the children want to learn about.  Instead of me just creating a theme for the week, the children and I talk about things they want to learn about and we do what they call a study on the topic.  We read books, do projects, etc on the topic they choose.  One study can last a week, others a month.  It all depends on how how long the children are interested in the topic.   We also do small groups everyday. Usually there will be four small groups.  The children will rotate to each group.  One of the groups will be teacher led and the others more independent activities where they work on skills such as fine motor, name writing, cutting etc..During the teacher led center, I will be focusing on literacy skills, math skills, etc.  Your child will get a bit more individualized time on these skills during this center. In Preschool 3 we also like to have a lot of fun.  There will be art projects, games, music and plenty of outside time.
