CURRICULUM

Welcome to the Preschool 1 Classroom that serves our youngest Lakers! Our curriculum is based on the creative curriculum learning style. We integrate children's interests in our lessons through observation and charting. Our studies range from a week to a month, depending on the interest and engagement of children on the topic. During the year we work on recognizing letters, phonemic awareness and sounds, counting (i.e., 1 - 30), identifying basic shapes, and learning the days of the week and months.

PERSONAL SKILLS

In our classroom, your child does not have to be potty trained. That is a personal skill we will work on throughout the year. Other self-help and personal skills that we will work on every day include:

  • Being kind; Sharing materials with friends
  • Dressing oneself
  • Brushing teeth
  • Assist with naptime bedding
  • Eating with utensils; Drinking from a glass
