Public and Nonprofit Administration

The Public and Nonprofit Administration program provides professional orientation and career specialization along with a sound liberal arts foundation. It provides students with the skills and knowledge necessary for success in public, nonprofit and healthcare organizations. The curriculum emphasizes general public administration knowledge but also allows students to concentrate in selected specialties. In addition to the Public, Nonprofit and Health Administration major, the department also offers a minor in Public Administration and a minor in Nonprofit Administration.

Public and Nonprofit Administration majors must choose one of the six emphasis options:

  • Community Development & Planning
  • Community Health
  • Local Economic Development
  • Nonprofit Administration
  • Public and Nonprofit Budgeting and Finance
  • Public Personnel Management

First Year Guides are meant to help direct students who have not been in college before. Each of the guides provide class suggestions based on a student's math and/or writing placement. Not all scenarios are represented here so you should follow up with an academic advisor to personalize your plan.

The 4-Year Guides were developed to help guide you to decide which courses to take and when. 

Students have the choice of completing a B.A or B.S. for their Public, Nonprofit and Health Administration Major.

Public and Nonprofit Administration Minors

The minor in Public Administration provides students with the skills and knowledge necessary for success and advancement in public and nonprofit organizations. Useful for a wide variety of majors, the minor can open the door to exciting careers in public service. 

The minor in Nonprofit Administration provides students with knowledge and skills useful in understanding and participating in the work of the nonprofit sector.
