This major equips students with scientific insight, hands-on training, certification opportunities, and expert knowledge to manage and protect these resources for future generations.
The program highlights the significance of freshwater resources for ecosystem stability and human well-being, preparing students to tackle the growing challenges facing these environments. By blending academic learning with hands-on experiences, students gain the skills needed to make informed decisions that support the sustainability of aquatic systems.
You will take courses covering stream ecology, fisheries biology, lake ecology, wetland ecology, and aquatic plants and invertebrates. Electives in chemistry, biology, and natural resource management allow you to delve into related fields and broaden your expertise. The curriculum also offers opportunities for fieldwork, internships, and research projects at the Annis Water Resources Institute, providing hands-on experience and professional development.

Attend to animals produced for animal products, such as meat, fur, skins, feathers, eggs, milk, and honey. Duties may include feeding, watering, herding, grazing, milking, castrating, branding, de-beaking, weighing, catching, and loading animals. May maintain records on animals; examine animals to detect diseases and injuries; assist in birth deliveries; and administer medications, vaccinations, or insecticides as appropriate. May clean and maintain animal housing areas. Includes workers who shear wool from sheep and collect eggs in hatcheries.
