Digital Media

Undergraduate Certificate

Allendale • Face to face (?) • 15 Credits

Social media and the internet have changed the way we live, work, and communicate. Employers are seeking workers who are equipped with and ready to use these skills in business, marketing, and health communications.

Overview

Grand Valley's Digital Media Undergraduate Certificate is designed for students seeking knowledge and skills related to digital marketing and communications career opportunities. This program explores social media strategies, analytics, and public relations and advertising campaign management, as well as specialized study in content creation or innovation. The certificate can be completed in one year or less and is available face-to-face at Grand Valley's Allendale Campus.

The coursework for the Digital Media certificate requires 15 credits. Students complete core courses in social media strategy, social media analytics, and social media campaigns. They then choose either the digital content creation track, which includes media production, copywriting, and graphic design basics, or the innovation and strategy track, which covers ethics, game culture, digital creativity, and international communications systems. This diverse range of courses ensures a comprehensive exploration of digital media topics and skills.

Studying Digital Media at Grand Valley provides students with valuable skills in digital media, marketing, and communications. The program allows students to choose a specialized track based on their interests and career goals, and courses taken for the certificate can be applied toward other degree programs. Additionally, students can earn a social media badge, enhancing their degrees and bolstering their resumes, making them more competitive in the job market.
