Due to legalization of cannabis across the United States, the growth and opportunity in the cannabis industry has skyrocketed. It is vital to find talented, ethical individuals to help manage this emerging, fast-paced marketplace in a safe and equitable way.
Grand Valley's Cannabis Operations and Community Planning Undergraduate Certificate prepares students to work in the retail cannabis industry or related fields, including non-profit and governmental intersections with cannabis operations. The program emphasizes ethical business practices, community health, restorative justice, and social equity.
The coursework requires 15 credits. Core courses include retail customer service, cannabis and culture, cannabis regulations and tourism, responsible cannabis retail operations, and field experience. Students also choose one elective from options such as criminal justice, social work, urban and regional planning, or sociology of drug use and abuse. This diverse range of courses ensures a comprehensive exploration of cannabis operations and community planning topics.
