Allied Health Sciences is a field encompassing a variety of health care professions focused on supporting patient care, diagnosis, and treatment.

Overview

The Allied Health Sciences Health Professional Degree (AHS-HPD) completion program offers a pathway for health care professionals with an associate degree to earn a bachelor’s degree. It complements careers in medical assisting, dental hygiene, radiography, sonography, occupational therapy aiding, paramedic, and surgical technician.

Students may qualify if they have earned an A.S. or A.A.S. from a Higher Learning Commission-accredited school in a health profession program that requires external accreditation and offers national voluntary credentialing. Students should possess or be eligible to obtain state licensing or credentials.

Students need 120 credits to graduate with an AHS-HPD degree from Grand Valley State University. Up to 80 credits from an A.S. or A.A.S. can be applied toward the Bachelor of Science in Allied Health Sciences. Students must earn 40 credits at a senior-level institution, with at least 30 credits completed at Grand Valley. Credit transfer is evaluated individually through transcript review. Upon admission, students should complete the AHS-HPD application to determine eligibility.

Located in the state-of-the-art Raleigh J. Finkelstein Hall, near five hospitals and numerous research, clinical, and treatment facilities, the College of Health Professions offers you high-quality clinical opportunities through strong medical community relationships.
