My favorite Grand Valley memory is joining Phi Sigma Pi. Through the organization, I met some of my closest friends, many of whom remain lifelong friends today. Phi Sigma Pi gave me opportunities to grow both personally and professionally through service,
Imagine shadowing doctors in a Peruvian health center, taking X-rays of the lungs of tuberculosis patients, and performing anthropometry assessments on malnourished children in a community. All this while being immersed in the culture and language of the host country, would be an unforgettable and transformative experience. Cross-cultural understanding is key when interacting with all kinds of patients.
