Department Hiring Visiting Faculty in Business Communication
Visiting Faculty of Writing. The Department of Writing at Grand Valley State University seeks to fill a full-time (9-month) Visiting Faculty position to begin August 6, 2024. The ideal candidates will have experience teaching business communication courses in both traditional classrooms and online environmentsand be interested in continuously developing their professional expertise as writing instructors. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate experience teaching courses in intercultural and global communication and working with adult learners. An PhD, MFA, or MA in Rhetoric/Composition, Writing, English, or closely related field is required by time of employment, and graduate coursework in rhetoric and composition is desired. Candidates need to have expertise and experience in teaching business communication; strong communication and interpersonal skills, such as the ability to interact with others with respect, empathy, and cultural humility; creativity and flexibility; and interest in social justice education, inclusion, diversity, and/or intercultural training. The typical teaching load for Visiting Faculty is 12-credit hours per semester.
This is a one year, non-tenure track position, with the possibility of renewal up to three years depending on funding and need. This position is designed for candidates planning to seek permanent positions elsewhere.
