***Employment will begin in fall semester. Applications will be reviewed upon receipt and interviews (virtual or in-person) scheduled until the position is filled.
JOB SUMMARY:
- Typing, filing, copying, distributing mail, creating documents, and designing promotional materials and event flyers
- Greeting faculty/staff and students and attending to their questions or needs
- Answering phone and directing callers appropriately
- Assisting with promotion and maintenance of the department's social media involvements
- Depending on your availability and the departments' needs, weekly hours are between 5 and 15. The number of hours worked each week typically remains the same throughout the semester.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be work-study eligible (If you're not sure whether you have work-study funds, contact the Student Employment Office for clarification at (616) 331-3238)
- Be self-motivated and work well independently
- Effective communication and positive interpersonal skills
- Experience and familiarity with basic computer applications (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Organizational skills
- Receive guidance and constructive criticism from faculty/staff
PREFERRED:
- Special consideration will be given to students with a WGS/LGBTQ major/minor
- Experience creating flyers and utilizing graphic design programs, such as Publisher or Canva
- Familiarity with and comfort managing social media
