Dr. Caillaud has been teaching at Grand Valley State University since 1990. She teaches a variety of French language, culture, and literature courses. She served as acting Chair of the WGS Department in 2018-2019 and is serving again in that capacity in 2020-2021. Dr. Caillaud has extensive leadership and service experience during her tenure at GVSU, including chairing the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures 2005-2011, coordinating the French Program, serving on the CLAS Faculty Council from 2013-2018, and Director of over fifteen faculty-led study abroad programs in France (Aix-en-Provence, Nice and Bordeaux) from 1993 to 2018. In 2019, Dr. Caillaud was invited to attend the International Medieval Colloquium in Angers, France.

Dr. Caillaud’s research focuses on the representation of women and gender issues in medieval French literature. She is also working collaboratively on integrating Reacting to the Past pedagogy into the French curriculum at GVSU. She was an early organizer of the Festival of Women, a precursor to today’s annual WGS festival/celebration held in March.
