Each position is filled for a two-year term and offers a meaningful way to support and advocate for gender equity in our community, build professional and leadership skills, and network across campus. Vice Chair and Treasurer: The vice chair and treasurer serves on the leadership team of the Women’s Commission, supporting the tone and direction for the group. The vice chair and treasurer serves a two-year term coinciding with the chair, ready to take the place of the chair once that position is vacated. The vice chair and treasurer is responsible for stewarding the annual budget, and, when the chair is unavailable, the vice chair and treasurer should be prepared to lead and represent the Women’s Commission.

Events and Volunteer ChairThe events and volunteers chair serves on the leadership team of the Women’s Commission for a two-year term. The events and volunteers chair is responsible for setting the annual event schedule and leading the planning process for annual events, with support from event chairs and volunteers. Additionally, they maintain communication with and support the work of volunteers on behalf of the Women’s Commission.

Advocacy Co-Chair and Faculty Institutional RepresentativeTwo advocacy co-chairs will serve on the leadership team of the Women’s Commission for alternating two-year terms. The advocacy co-chairs will also serve as institutional representatives (IRs) for the Michigan-American Council on Education (MI-ACE) Women’s Network. As prescribed by the roles of IRs, one co-chair will be selected from the faculty of GVSU, and one IR will be selected from the professional staff of GVSU. The advocacy co-chairs will be responsible for proactively creating connections between the work of the Women’s Commission and the MI-ACE Women’s Network. Most critically, they will lead advocacy efforts on behalf of the Women’s Commission in support of gender equity on campus.
