Welcome

The Women's Commission is one of the longest-established faculty/staff affinity groups at Grand Valley. Since 1996, the Commission has been advocating for all women on campus by acting on their issues and by promoting equity and social justice, ever conscious of the intersection of race, class, gender, and orientation.

As we enter our 28th year, we are continuing our legacy of creating dialogue, celebrating women's leadership, and exploring issues of advocacy. We hope that you find the events, resources, and opportunities posted on our site valuable. With the support of the Division of Inclusion and Equity, the Women's Commission proudly sponsors the annual fall welcome Celebrating Women Awards, Reflections Mentorship Panel, and Her Story series.

Joining the Women's Commission

There are three levels of participation for folks interested in becoming involved with the Women's Commission depending on the level of commitment your schedule allows:

  • Leadership Team
    • These are the roles that require the largest commitment. When they become available, on their regular schedules or otherwise, formal applications will be taken to fill these openings. You can learn more about the leadership team here
  • Volunteer:
    • We appreciate these roles so much as they help move along our initiatives. This is a great way to get a taste for different events and opportunities within the Women's Commission, but in a focused manner when it is convenient for your schedule. To become a volunteer, you can submit this form indicating your interest.
  • Supporter
    • We value this audience highly because this is how we build our network, spread awareness, and activate when the time calls for it. There is no labor involved in this role, and if interested folks need only navigate to this link in order to add themselves to our mailing list so they are able to stay connected.

In the spirit of collaboration, we invite you to get involved in this meaningful work on behalf of all women. For more information, please contact [email protected] or attend one of our upcoming events.
