Systems of Pain/Networks of Resilience - Art Exhibit by Professor Meghan Moe Beitiks
Date and Time
Saturday, June 16, 2018
Dickson Center (DKN), Arrowhead Room Route 47 at Waubonsee Drive, Sugar Grove, IL 60554-9454
In the art exhibition Systems of Pain/Networks of Resilience (Exhibition) , Meghan Moe Beitiks presents artworks oriented around her performance-based research. Her research focuses on human perceptions of non-humans, relationships with nature, and how they connect to environmental stewardship. It includes interviews with people, as well as academic, cultural and visual research. The research findings act as prompts to create multi-dimensional artwork (i.e. video, performance, installation, or some combination). Beitiks is interested in engaging with questions about culture, including how it's created, what meaning it produces, and how those meanings reflect on her and her own perceptions. This exhibition, an exploration of recovery, includes Audio Description from Emily Smith Beitiks, Katie Murphy, and Adam Harvey, as well photos by Jane Phillips, video by Miguel Cedillo, and a performing table by Jason Friedes. It was developed with the support of the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, Residency 108, Studios Midwest, The Wassaic Project, and the Santa Fe Art Institute.
Monday – Friday: 8 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Saturday: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
