Our Mission, Vision, & Values
Tutoring in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) serves students at Grand Valley State University by providing tutoring and supplemental instruction. We foster academic success by providing multidisciplinary content support and promoting positive study behaviors to cultivate empowered, persistent learners in an inclusive, accessible, and learner-centered environment.
CLAS Tutoring seeks to alleviate barriers to student engagement and success by building an intentional and active environment where every student—those we serve and those we employ— is respected, supported, and valued as both a learner and a person.
We will accomplish our goals by being proactive and adaptive to the needs of our community, assessing our impact and working towards continuous, data-driven improvement, practicing open and honest communication, and supporting professional development and growth.
We understand that learning and decisions are best made through inquiry and active discussion, and CLAS Tutoring will collaborate with colleagues on- and off-campus while participating in the national and international conversations on best practices and innovations to serve our diverse student population.
