Archives Assistant
Join a team designed to create a better experience for patrons in the Lemmen Library & Archives inside Seidman House! Become a Research Services Assistant and help staff the Reading Room Service Desk. Excellent customer service skills, enthusiasm for the library and historical materials, and the ability to work carefully on focused tasks are required. Primary responsibilities include assisting patrons with reference needs, retrieving collection materials for research use, and instructing patrons on proper care and handling of rare and unique materials. Other duties include digitizing and transcribing historic materials and other clerical tasks, as well as assisting as needed with archival processing tasks.

Student Internships
GVSU Internships
A limited number of volunteer internships may be offered in Fall, Winter, and Spring/Summer terms, and may be taken in coordination with a for-credit internship course (with departmental approval). In your cover letter, please explain why you are interested in the position. If you are seeking an internship for credit, please include the name and contact information of your departmental internship coordinator in your cover letter.

Graduate MLIS/MSI Internships
Archival graduate internships are available for individuals currently enrolled in a master's degree program in library and information science with a concentration or focus on archives. No previous archival experience is necessary. Projects will vary based on current needs within Lemmen Library and the student's experience and interests. Projects may include:
- Archival accessioning and processing
- Digitization, preservation, and digital project planning
- Educational outreach
- Exhibition, event, or workshop planning
- Reference services
Internships may begin at the start of fall, winter, or summer semester. Work will take place onsite at Lemmen Library and Archives between 8am-4:30pm, Monday through Friday. Hours are flexible, and some remote work may be available. Please note that work within the archives requires the physical ability to go up and down stairs. Funds may be available.
