General Information - Used Equipment

EQUIPMENT RETURNS

Technology Acquisition does not accept returns of used equipment, nor will we resell used equipment. When your order is delivered, please verify the equipment is correct. If upon delivery you realize you ordered the wrong equipment, please email Technology Acquisition right away for assistance. 

USED, END OF LIFE, AND OBSOLETE EQUIPMENT

All Technology equipment purchased with GVSU funds (general fund, grant, personal development, etc.)  is to remain with the university and is not available for personal purchase or resale. Resigning/retiring employees should turn in their computers and devices to their departments so they can have the computer reimaged for the next user. All personal data should be backed up and removed prior to returning devices as all data in the computers and devices will be permanently deleted. Additionally, as computers and operating systems become unsupported, Information Technology will discontinue support. 

For equipment you no longer wish to use, that is end of life, or obsolete, place a ticket request in the Service Portal for IT Services to schedule a pick-up. 

 

COMPUTER REASSIGNMENT

  • Place a ticket request in the Service Portal for IT Services to reimage a computer for a different faculty or staff member. Information Technology must provision the computer for the new user to ensure up-to-date security and network protocols. This also ensures assets are assigned to the current user in Information Technology's asset management system. 
  • Departments outside of Information Technology are not to image or setup a University computer for re-assignment.
  • Technology Acquisition does not offer used machines for GVSU departments.
