General Information - Used Equipment

USED EQUIPMENT

All technology equipment purchased with GVSU funds (grant, personal development, etc.)  is to remain with the university and is not available for personal purchase. Retirees/resigning employees should turn their computers/devices to their departments.

For equipment you no longer wish to use, place a ticket request in the Service Portal for IT Services to schedule a pick-up. At this time, whether the equipment is transferred to a new person or returned to IT. 

Place a ticket request in the Service Portal for IT Services to pick up University computer equipment that is no longer needed.

COMPUTER REASSIGNMENT

  • Place a ticket request in the Service Portal for IT Services to reimage a computer for a different faculty or staff member. Information Technology must provision the computer for the new user to ensure up to date security and network protocols.
  • Departments outside of Information Technology are not to image or setup a University computer for re-assignment.
  • Computers that do not meet current supported standards will be replaced by a refurbished computer, if available. In some cases, the department may have to purchase a new computer.

END OF LIFE AND OBSOLETE EQUIPMENT

  • As computers and operating systems become unsupported, Information Technology will discontinue support. 
  • Place a ticket request in the Service Portal for IT Services to pick up University computer equipment that is no longer needed.
  • Computers are not to be sold or issued for non-GVSU use.
