Apple Options

The Information Technology Division established a "Minimum Computer Standards" supported list to improve your computing experience.  By picking a machine on the supported list you'll be getting a machine that works on the GVSU network, is fully supported by IT, and is equipped with the best security practices and ability to update security software when needed. We also have a team of hardware technicians that are certified to work on our standard line-up.

Procedure for requesting pricing for both stock and non-stock items.

Please note:

  • Ethernet adapters are no longer a required accessory. If you would like to purchase an ethernet adapter, Technology Acquisition currently has them in stock or they can be purchased as a punchout through Amazon in Workday.
  • MacBooks cannot be imaged as multiuser. Please keep this in mind when ordering both MacBook Pros and MacBook Airs.

MacBook Air vs. MacBook Pro

The MacBook Air is equipped with the M3 chip, which provides strong performance for everyday tasks including web browsing, document editing, and media consumption. It also offers up to 18 hours of battery life. The MacBook Air is best for users who prioritize portability, battery life, and cost, with performance suitable for everyday tasks. The MacBook Pro with the M3 Pro chip is designed for more demanding tasks like video editing, software development, and graphic design. The MacBook Pro is best for power users who need higher performance, better displays, and more connectivity options, especially for professional or creative work.
