Job Summary

Operate high-volume copy machines and finishing equipment. Oversee mailroom, shipping and receiving for Pew Campus.

Essential Functions

  • Determine the daily production schedule of projects, equipment usage and finishing activities to successfully complete the copying production and finishing volume as defined by the users.
  • Operate the high volume production copiers, making adjustments to machines and originals to produce the best possible results.
  • Instruct student employees in proper procedures and safety measures on equipment.
  • Oversee the customer service related activities of the mailroom and copy centers.
  • Oversee student employees in the operation of the mailroom on the Pew Campus including: logging and distributing U.S. Mail, UPS shipments and freight deliveries.
  • Oversee cleaning and organization of the Copy Center, Receiving and Mail Areas in the DeVos Center, Eberhard Center and Center for Health Science Buildings.
  • Supervise unloading and logging of truck shipments. Notify appropriate individuals of discrepancies and/or damage.
  • Produce receiving documents, record merchandise counts, and note discrepancies between purchase orders and packing slips.
  • Hire, train and supervise student and temporary employees.

Non-Essential Functions

  • Order and maintain supplies for the mailroom, Copy Center and receiving areas.
  • Recommend replacement, repair, and purchase of equipment.
  • Process UPS shipments for customers at the mailroom counter.

Required Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three years of relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully work under pressure and meet deadlines. 
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully maintain positive intercultural and interpersonal relationships.
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully operate office equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully provide quality customer service.
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully maintain satisfactory work performance and attendance records.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Typing and spelling competency.
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully to use various computer software applications.
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully work independently, organize own work and coordinate work activities of others.
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully perform mathematical calculations with speed and accuracy.
  • Excellent grammar and proofreading skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedule with some evening and weekend hours if necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Some college course work.
  • Higher education experience.
  • Supervisory experience.

Supervision Received

Receive primary supervision for Associate Bookstore Manager (Pew Campus), but may receive direction and supervision from others.

Supervision Exercised

Hire, train, supervise, schedule and coordinate the work of student employees and may act as lead worker to other PSS staff members within the department/unit/division.
