Danielle J. Dewitt

Danielle Josephine DeWitt is a two-time alumnus of Grand Valley State University, earning her bachelor’s degree in psychology and master’s degree in healthcare administration. DeWitt has dedicated 19 years to the field of philanthropy, beginning in 2007 as a student employee in the GVSU Development Office, and after graduating in 2009, she continued in full-time roles that included grant writing and building the university’s first comprehensive donor relations program. Her work supported GVSU’s first comprehensive campaign, which raised more than $100 million.

In 2016, DeWitt began her work in the fast‑paced, ever‑changing world of healthcare at Corewell Health – the largest health system in the state of Michigan. As lead foundation specialist for donor relations and stewardship for Corewell Health Foundation West Michigan and Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital Foundation, she leads gratitude efforts for the West Michigan region. DeWitt founded the Donor Relations Professionals of West Michigan, which meets twice annually, and has presented at international conferences for the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy and the Association of Donor Relations Professionals.

DeWitt is deeply committed to her community, particularly her alma mater, GVSU. She serves as president‑elect of the Grand Valley State University Alumni Association’s Board of Directors; mentors students at the Cook Leadership Academy; and is a member of the MHA program’s Industry Advisory Council. She also serves as co‑race director for the Colon Cancer Coalition’s Get Your Rear in Gear Grand Rapids 5K run/walk, judges the high school essay competition for The Economic Club of Grand Rapids, and has volunteered with the Grand Rapids Children’s Museum. In her free time, she enjoys mentoring, reading, advocating for better mental health care and gender equity, and spending time with her eight nieces and nephews.
