Advising Roles and Responsibilities

Faculty Mentors and professional advisors have overlapping and complementary roles and responsibilities. Each strives to facilitate and support students’ intellectual and personal growth while helping them to learn how to navigate the university setting. The advising activities of both the faculty mentor and professional advisor are integrated into a cohesive, coordinated, informed and on-going dialogue with students that enrich and enlighten students’ progress toward their goals. In addition, students must take an active role in the advising process and be engaged in their academic pursuits. Lastly, the College is responsible for providing transparency, support, and resources to ensure effective and efficient academic advising for all CLAS students.
