Olivia Brown ('28) receives Logie Fellowship

Published June 15, 2026

Olivia Brown '28, a double major in geography with a focus in urban planning and environmental and sustainability studies, received the GVSU John H. Logie Fellowship, a competitive internship with the City of Grand Rapids, for the summer of 2026. Olivia notes, "This Summer I have the honor of doing research on sustainable green infrastructure opportunities in the city of Grand Rapids. I am learning about the intricacies of funding, installing, and maintaining green infrastructure and identifying areas with most need. To represent the information I am gathering, I am mapping data on ArcGIS Pro, a computer mapping program, to showcase potential installation locations and types. The Environmental Services Department partnered with GVSU to make my work possible, and I am being hosted directly by the City of Grand Rapids Stormwater Department. I am looking forward to exploring more about what can be done to help the people and environment of GR."
