The CSRSE Faculty Hub

Curious about how to get started?

YOUR scholarly impact grows with OURS. Engage. Inspire. Transform.

Connecting with Students

Faculty play a central role in advancing GVSU’s vibrant scholarly community by engaging undergraduate students in research and creative practice. Whether projects are student- or faculty-initiated, mentoring undergraduate researchers fosters academic growth, encourages future scholars, and supports both student and faculty research goals.

Opportunities for Funding

Leverage the resources of the Office of Undergraduate Research and Scholarship (OURS) to support your research, scholarship, and creative practice with students. Guidance is available for identifying internal and external funding mechanisms that support faculty mentored research.

Faculty Development and Learning

Take advantage of workshops, seminars, and professional development programs designed to strengthen undergraduate research mentorship. These professional development opportunities enable faculty to learn new strategies, share effective practices, and strengthen their role as mentors, contributing to student success and faculty growth. This hub also provides curated best practices from national organizations like the Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR) and the Center for the Improvement of Mentored Experiences in Research (CIMER).

Mentor Tools

Access a curated collection of faculty-focused guides, mentorship resources, and practical tools to support your journey as an undergraduate research mentor. Explore guides on effective mentoring strategies, project planning, and assessment. Faculty interested in integrating research directly into their teaching will find links to guides, best practices, and toolkits for developing Course-Based Undergraduate Research Experiences (CUREs). Personalized support is available from the OURS team to help you address mentoring questions and navigate unique research scenarios with students.

Finding Community

Connect with fellow mentors and become part of GVSU’s supportive OURS community. The Faculty Resources Hub offers information about upcoming events and programs, opportunities to engage with the Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR), and other opportunities to connect. Join a community that values celebration, growth, and mutual support in undergraduate research mentoring.

Supporting Disabled Graduate Students Starts with Rethinking Mentorship
