Biography
Dr. Dimitri Melissourgos is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Science in the College of Computing. He received his master's degree and his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the University of Florida. His research centers on two primary areas: network traffic measurement and privacy-preserving machine learning. Through his research on network traffic measurement, he is focusing on the accurate collection of network data using compact data structures called sketches to support applications like load balancing, security monitoring, and quality of service. Additionally, he researches privacy-preserving machine learning, which involves developing techniques to safeguard sensitive data during remote neural network training. Dr. Melissourgos has published his work in leading conferences and journals such as Infocom, VLDB, SIGMETRICS, ACM Transactions on Networking, ACM Measurement and Analysis of Computing Systems, and ICTAI. He teaches graduate and undergraduate courses such as Introduction to Cybersecurity, Network Systems Management, Cybersecurity Project, and Secure Software Engineering.
Outside of his academic pursuits, Dr. Melissourgos enjoys scuba diving, flying drones, travelling, spearfishing, and building his own home lab.
