Biography
Rodd Lowell serves as the Director of Internships and Career Development and is a Senior Affiliate Faculty member in the Department of Computer Science within the College of Computing at Grand Valley State University (GVSU). In this dual role, he bridges the gap between classroom learning and real-world application, supporting students as they prepare for successful careers in computing. Rodd teaches a variety of courses ranging from introductory programming to database systems and professional development.
His professional affiliations include West Michigan Tech Talent Council, membership in the American Society of Engineering Educators (ASEE), specifically within the Cooperative and Experiential Education Division, and participation on the management team for the Conference for Industry and Education Collaboration (CIEC) from 2020 through 2024. At GVSU, he also serves as Vice-Chair of the Affiliate Faculty Advisory Committee.
Rodd’s research interests focus on enhancing his communication and teaching strategies while fostering meaningful connections with industry partners. Outside of work, he enjoys golfing with his family and is a passionate fan of ice hockey, especially the Detroit Red Wings.
