Biography

Dr. Kel Levick is an affiliate faculty member of the College of Computing. As an electrical engineer by training, they enjoy tackling computing problems from an information-theoretic perspective. Their research interests include, broadly, inferring DNA sequences and the limits of doing so, whether that be analyzing decoding techniques for a DNA storage system or recovering antimicrobial resistance genes from a metagenomic sample. However, their main joy is in teaching: although new to Grand Valley State University, Dr. Levick has years of classroom experience that has been recognized with the E. A. Reid Fellowship and the Mavis Future Faculty Fellowship while at the University of Illinois. They are passionate about ensuring access to and inclusion in high-quality computing education.
